Word Roll

A search pill that rolls through words letter by letter.

Placeholder text in search inputs usually just blinks a cursor or types one character at a time. Both feel mechanical. I wanted the placeholder to roll — each word lifts away letter by letter while the next drops in the same way, like a departure board at an airport. It keeps the input feeling alive while you're reading the rest of the page. The stagger per letter is 30ms, fast enough to read as a wave rather than individual animations.
